Library Challenge - Pick a Previous Book - Where the Wild Things Are

inside
The current challenge at The Library  is to pick a previous book and for this reminder post I've chosen Where the Wild Things Are,
According to a new study, the hallowed practice of bedtime reading is falling by the wayside — and that some quarter of a million children do not own a single book. This is a terrible shame, as regular bedtime stories have been shown to increase children’s performance in school, and are also awesome and can help create strong lifetime bonds, both with literature and with parents.
I made a one layer card combining the monster and balloon stamps with sentiments from Happy Little Stampers.

The full list of books, including The Lion , The Witch and The Wardrobe; Bridget Jones's Diary and The Little Mermaid, is here .

Gifts for Nephews

I'm posting some presents I made for some of my nephews.  The photo above shows a sketchbook for my grown-up nephew - bet you can't guess his name! I made the cover using recycled cardboards and scrapbook paper, binding it with the Bind-it-All.  I made a bookmark by die-cutting a fish shape.

These T-shirts are for a seven-year-old nephew. I cut the images from Heat Transfer Vinyl, using the Silhouette and fixed them with a heat press.

I hope you're all having a wonderful holiday season.

The Library - Anthology (Pick a Previous Book)

Anthology - Pick any book previously featured at The Library

I hope you can see the glitter on the hearts/tail
At The Library, the challenge is to pick any book featured this year and use it as your inspiration.

For my card above, I chose the very first challenge book : Jane Austen's Pride and Predjudice. I made the card for my daughter's fiancee , who is a police officer who got a commendation at work.

For my second card, I chose Watership Down by Richard Adams.

Holly Bus

Last weekend, my partner asked me if I'd make some cards for his bus enthusiast friends. Yes, last weekend - the 15th December! He gave me the photo (it's one of his own buses) and I made these 7 cards:

As you can see, I used a variety of materials including stamps, die-cuts and patterned paper.  For the card at the top of this post, I used an old Hero Arts holly stamp and Promarkers.

The best kind of accident....

... is a mica accident. I was spraying my inked sky with water with (I thought)a touch of mica inside but a big glob of mica came out and I had to mop it up ...ending up with a very shimmery sky.

For this card I used several stamp sets and lots of post-its for masking.

Reindeer from Bits

I've pretty much finished making Christmas cards now and I'm trying to get them written and sent. I sent my international ones this evening - a day after the last posting date! Never mind, they may still get there on time.

I do , however, still have some cards I haven't blogged, This one was made from bits I had hanging around. The two back panels were in a pack of things I was sent ages ago by my dear teammie , Shauna - I think everything's used up now!  The reindeer, cut out of glitter paper, was for another project but it wasn't the right size, The sentiment was a duplicate.

City Crafter - Snowflakes

This week at City Crafter, Lucille wants to see snowflakes.

In fact I just used one big snowflake! It's cut from a file I created when I did an pnline course in designing cutting files for the Silhouette.  I used white and white here, but with lots of glitter and texture.

I hope you'll join in the challenge.

The Library - The Snowman

At The Library, the book is The Snowman by Raymond Briggs.

It's the perfect book for reluctant readers - it has no words! You might also know the film, with the song 'Walking in the Air'.

By coincidence, while I was making cards for this challenge, I discovered that Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine had free The Snowman images available to download. I printed this one off, coloured it with Promarkers, cut it out and stuck it over a stamped night sky (Avery Elle) .

Trees in a Row

If I was going to make multiple Christmas cards of the same design (which I never do) , this would be a good one. The trees are just one stamp. I coloured them with Zig Markers in two shades of green.  I really love those wooden stars . This'd be quick and easy to make again. But I won't.

City Crafter Challenge Blog - Santa Claus

I really struggled to get a decent of this card. It's a simple stepper card and Santa has got glitter highlights. It's my DT card for City Crafter Challenge Blog  where Amy has chosen the theme 'Santa Claus'.

I hope you'll join in the challenge.

Reminder from The Library - From Time to Time

I've made another card for the current challenge at The Library  in the hope of persuading you to take part.

The book is called From Time to Time and you can use any ideas from the story (time travel with a New York setting), cover or title.

For my card I've taken inspiration from the cover and the title and used some of my well-worn Christmas favourites : red glitter and kraft (check) , white gel pen on kraft (check), silhouetted skyline with Santa flying over (check).

I know everyone's uploading their Christmas cards right now, so if yours has buildings on it, or the word 'time' , why not link it up at The Library?
