City Crafter - Out of this World (and Pro-Am showdown # 4)

I have chosen this week's challenge at City Crafter  and the theme is 'Out of This World' -  make a project on the theme of outer space, the planets or stars - or use the phrase, 'out of this world'.

For my DT project I decided to use my self-imposed challenge - Pro -Am Showdown.  (which I seem to be well behind with btw)  and take inspiration from a commercially produced (or 'pro') card. And here is the card:
The professional card that inspired me
This birthday card was received by my  son, and I love the colour scheme and the retro space theme.

For my card, I used stamps from two Gerda Steiner sets (the alien and the spaceship) ,star stamps (a mix of sets) sentiment (Clearly Besotted) and a star embossing folder .

Lots of stamp companies have bought out space-themed sets recently, so , if you've bought them or if you want to get creative with old stash, I'd love to see you enter your project at City Crafter.

Today it is Kirsty's birthday - Kirsty is the fantastic leader of City Crafter Challenge blog.

This is the card that I sent to her. I used a Hobby Art stamp, alcohol markers, a circular sentiment by MSE  and some magazine freebie patterned paper , that I paper-pieced on its feathers.

Kirsty, I hope you have a great day.

A Fair Cop

Here's a birthday card for a (female) police officer and it is probably very hard to explain to anyone who's not British.  But I'll try......

'Cop' is slang for police officer. But the phrase 'it's a fair cop' is (allegedly) what criminals say when they are caught in the act, and means 'Okay, I did it.'

So I thought it'd be fun to use this Polkadoodles police officer digi (coloured with Promarkers) and place it on a printed fairground background from a My Craft Studio CD. I added the words (playing around with the punctuation ) in Silhouette Studio.

City Crafter Challenge Blog - Sunshine

Our challenge this week at City Crafter is 'Sunshine'.

For my DT project I made a one-layer-card using a sun (Hero) , woman with dog (Prickley Pear) and sentiment (I think this was a Craft Stamper freebie?)  I decided to draw a line under the figures to 'ground' them - then realised that it might look like they were standing on sand. She'll soon be sinking in those heels!

Please do come over to City Crafter, see what the rest of the DT made and link up your own sunny project.

Inkspirational Challenge - Urban

Our new challenge at Inkspirational is Urban.

For my DT card I wanted to use both an urban/city scene and also a 'urban' grungy look.

I used a border stamp with lots of circles and semi circles (I think it may be Woodware,) a cityscape by Kaisercraft, sentiment (Penny Black) and numbers (7 Gypsies). I coloured bits of the stamped images with a mustard-yellow marker, and added yellow spray and liquid enamel dots.

I hope you'll join in our challenge. We have a wonderful Guest Designer, Aileen  and I hope you'll come over to Inkspirational and see what she, and the rest of the DT have made.

Hula

I bought a Sugarpea pig stamp set , thinking I could use one to make a birthday card for my niece but they were smaller than I'd imagined. (Does that ever happen to you? It can be hard to tell when buying online).

So I decided to put the pig on a podium from a W plus 9 set. I added stars (brand unknown) and a Hero Arts sentiment, and coloured with Promarkers.

Happy Birthday to Sandie my lovely team-mate from Inkspirational .

This is the card I sent to her. The bird is Woodware , I think, and I used a border punch and glitter card.

I hope you get it today, Sandie, I only posted it yesterday so we'll see how efficient first class post is. Have a great day!

City Crafter Challenge Blog - Inspiration Photo

This week, at City Crafter , Kirsty wants us to take inspiration from this photo:

As you can see, my DT card uses a piece of map patterned paper.  The image is a Lili of the Valley stamp, coloured with markers and the sentiment is Hero Arts (I think).

I hope you'll join in the fun at City Crafter,

Bunch of Stars and Computer Good News

Thanks for all the supportive messages about my computer problems. The great news is, (for a few hundred pounds!), I've been able to recover most of my data and my computer is running nicely. I just need to reinstall everything (especially MS Office) and then I'll be able to get back up to speed.

For this card I used a MFT stamp, coloured it with Promarkers and cut it out.  I then partially stamped it on black card and embossed it with silver, then paper-pieced the stars with mirror card. The sentiment is by Sarah Hurley and I used a stars embossing folder for the back panel.

City Crafter Challenge Blog - Arrivals - and my IT disaster!

Disaster, my crafty friends! My computer has collapsed! I can't use it at all and I'm just hoping an expert can retrieve my data. Music, cutting files, digi-stamps and most of all my precious photos. Yes, I did back-up onto an external hard drive a while back but ran out of space.... So please forgive me if I am not able to do everything I usually do , as I'm managing on my phone (which I'm not great with tbh) and borrowing time on my partner's pc.

Anyway, I chose 'Arrivals' for this week's challenge at CCCB  and I made a baby card using a magazine- freebie stamp and sentiments from Personal Impressions and Alte New.

Inkspirational Challenge 134 - Photo

Our new challenge at Inkspirational  is to be inspired by this photo, that I took when on holiday in Dinard, France:
For my DT card I stamped and embossed some feathers (Bo Bunny) in white on very dark grey card, and cut them out.  I cut the circles on the Silhouette , stamped the sentiment and used a woodgrain embossing folder for the base.

I hope you'll come over to Inkspirational and join in our challenge.

City Crafter Challenge Blog - You Can Do It

This week, at City Crafter, Stella has challenged us to make our own backgrounds.

For my DT card, I made a birthday card for a three-year-old, using a Woodware submarine stamp. (It had to be yellow, of course).

When I try out background techniques I tend to do a few at a time, so I grabbed a background I'd made a while back with metallic markers and water. I mixed clear texture paste with Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals in yellow and applied it through a stencil for the rays.

I hope you will have a go at making your background for this challenge, but first please come over to City Crafter and see what the rest of the DT have made.

Normally my daughter gives me quite specific instructions for her card requirements but this time she just said she wanted 'something pretty' for her friend's birthday.

Okay...so...flowers are pretty...and pink is pretty....

I stamped and embossed the flowers ( Wplus 9)  in green and coloured them with Zig Clean Colour  markers, The sentiment is by My Favorite Things
